Petrochemical

Petrochemical uses Process gases include single component gases, such as hydrogen or nitrogen, or multiple component gases, such as hydrogen sulfide. Chemical process and petrochemical gases include the uses of halogens for oxidation. Halogens include iodine, chlorine, fluorine, and bromine. These chemical processing gases are used in chemical reactions to produce halide ions, or salts. Halogens are elements that will react with most metals, making them useful in many chemical processes. Other common chemical process and petrochemical gases include oxygen for creating building block chemicals such as nitric acid and ethylene oxide; nitrogen for providing an inert, nonflammable processing environment; and hydrogen for manufacturing ammonia and methanol, as well as for hydrogenation processes to produce soaps, plastics, insulation, and other specialty chemicals.
