Medical uses of nitrous acid

It is used to provide rapid and effective anesthesia as it can be accessed through a mask or breathing tube

It helps relieve pain and anxiety before and during surgical operations and gives a feeling of joy.

It is used in dentistry to relieve pain through extensive procedures and formulations to help with this

It is used in the treatment of young children and people with severe symptoms from medical treatment

It is also used for short and invasive surgeries that do not require general anesthesia

Medical Nitrous Oxide (N2O)

Nitrous Oxide (N₂O) is commonly known as ‘laughing gas’ or sweet air. It is a
chemical compound – an oxide of Nitrogen. At room temperature, it is a colourless,
non-flammable gas, with a slightly sweet odour and taste. It is used in surgery and
dentistry for its anaesthetic and analgesic effects. It is known as laughing gas due to
the euphoric effects of inhaling it, a property that has led to its recreational use as a
dissociative anaesthetic. At elevated temperatures, Nitrous Oxide is a powerful
oxidiser similar to molecular Oxygen.
